Chelsea Avenue House Fire

The North Babylon Fire Company responded to a reported house fire on Chelsea Avenue Sunday, July 21, 2013 at approximately 8:00 p.m. Numerous calls were received and Suffolk County Police were on scene confirming a working fire as was 1-8-51. Chief of Department Thomas Jordan had the alarm re-sounded and requested mutual aid from the West Babylon F.D. for a Ladder bringing 1-9-4 to the scene and RIT from the Wyandanch Fire Co.
Engine 1-8-4 was first due and stretched two lines into the house as other crews laddered searched and vented the home. The fire was located in the attic above a second floor bathroom and contained to that area. Within 30 minutes the fire was knocked down and brought under control with no reported injuries and the house suffering moderate damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
